![]() The last thing the Red Sox can do is let Yamamoto follow Soto to New York without a real fight. Author Will Sammon also mentioned two more unidentified clubs, which shouldn't exactly invoke warm, reassured feelings from Red Sox fans that their team is in on the hunt, but it still leaves a door open. The same Athletic article that laid out the details of the Cohen/Stearns/Yamamoto meeting explicitly named the Yankees, Giants, Dodgers, Blue Jays, and Mets. Convince Yamamoto to make a quick stop up in Boston following his conversation with the Yankees, perhaps? Steve Cohen money is Steve Cohen money, and the Red Sox might not be able or willing to fly reps all the way to Japan for a meeting, but that's not the only option. The two parties are expected to meet in New York on Monday, and this after Steve Cohen and David Stearns showed Yamamoto how serious they are about him coming to the Mets by flying all the way to Japan for what has been described as a "quick" meeting. Now that it looks like the Red Sox have no hope of signing Shohei Ohtani, they can and should focus all of their attention and money on Yoshinobu Yamamoto, especially now that the Yankees' talks with him have gotten deeper. Let's yell at Craig Breslow! Make something happen, Craig! Yoshinobu Yamamoto ![]() Could it be that the Red Sox have more going on than we think, but they're just keeping it quiet? Maybe, but that seems just a tad bit too optimistic, and sitting back and trusting that the front office will make something big happen feels a tad bit complacent. This year's free agencies and the trade market have been especially shrouded in secrecy, seemingly motivated by the top secret nature of Shohei Ohtani's search for a new home next year. 3 moves Red Sox must make to punch back at Yankees’ Juan Soto trade However, this should ignite a fire in the Red Sox front office. There are a lot of cards still on the table, to be fair - Soto is one of the first major pieces to actually move. The Red Sox have been mired in "interest in" a lot of players this offseason but they haven't landed any of them yet it doesn't seem like they've even been in advanced stages of negotiations with any of them yet. The Red Sox need to use this as incentive to get going, sign some much needed players, and be more aggressive overall if they are going to compete against the Yankees next year. After months of speculating about a blockbuster trade that would land Soto in New York, he's really, truly headed to the Bronx, and Aaron Boone and Brian Cashman are doing their best approximation of evil cartoon character cackling. The Yankees finally, actually did it: they got Juan Soto.

15 Interestingly, the pattern of comorbidity differed such that women with a greater number of drug dependencies had higher rates of antisocial personality and depression than did women dependent on fewer drugs. Another study among drug-dependent female inmates in a substance abuse treatment program reported rates of 43% and 32% for antisocial personality and depression, respectively. 3 Lifetime prevalence was highest for substance abuse or dependence (70.2%), posttraumatic stress disorder (33.5%), and major depressive episode (16.9%). found that more than 80% of jail detainees met criteria for 1 or more lifetime psychiatric disorders. 15,16 Comorbidities, particularly mental disorders and substance use disorders, are common in this population. We ran across a shoebox full of old recipe booklets, many of them church- or school-produced things outside my area of interest, but one of them happened to be an early 1960s vintage copy of Joys of Jell-O, with just the sort of weird color food photography I adore. It turns out that the key is having enthusiasm for the Project itself. I’m way outside of both of those demographics, and while I clearly have Jell-O memories going way back, it’s not like it’s ever been my favorite thing. They also tend to be housewives and/or Mormons. Other people who’ve done Jell-O blogs have claimed to love (or be obsessed with) Jell-O. I’ll be honest with you – a major ongoing challenge has been maintaining enthusiasm for Jell-O. As far as I’ve been able to discover, nobody else has been able to cook their way through this book, so that, when it happens, will be an accomplishment. If there’s one thing I’ve learned over the course of this Project, it’s the need to pace myself, and the main thing is to actually finish. I don’t see that happening at this point. In the last unmemorable Memory Lane piece, Quick Creme de Menthe Frappé, I announced that I would try to have all of the recipes completed and posted by my fiftieth birthday in January 2017. That was the part Bryan liked, probably because it had ice cream in it, and ice cream makes everything better. At least then the photo would have been more interesting, and I could have had a bavarian layer than wasn’t creepy pink. I can see now I should have mixed it up a bit. Apparently I just went with strawberry for both layers, but the recipe calls for “any flavor” Jell-O. Reviewing the recipe, I see that I could have made this more interesting. Frozen fruit is great in a gelatin dish insofar as it helps to cool the gelatin so that it thickens faster, but it’s difficult to find frozen fruit that has both flavor and a non-weird texture. Back when I was rating the recipes, I gave this one two “nasties”, because it wasn’t as nice as I expected, and because I was dissatisfied with the Trader Joe’s frozen fruit medley that I used for the jelly layer. I’m pretty sure I’ve made a number of them like this, a jelly layer atop a bavarian layer. It’s clear from the photo why I have no memory of Layered Parfait Mold. Scanning through my editorial calendar, it looks like I’ve front-loaded the blog with the more memorable items (whether this was intentional or not, I’ll leave the reader to guess), so from here on in you can count on Memory Lane to be cracked and increasingly overgrown by weeds. ![]() It’s kind of ironic that I’ve named this category of recipes “Memory Lane”, because often I have no memory of them at all. When performed too quickly or without mindfulness, it can cause problems for the body rather than helping loosen the body. These mistakes can wreak havoc on the body and even lead to injury. Stretching allows us to to slow down and feel looser, while alleviating muscular pain and discomfort, all things that help us relax. Opening up the hips, mobilizing the spine and stretching the biggest muscles in the body (in the lower legs) can be a way to de-stress and quiet the mind as well. The world’s greatest stretch incorporates thoracic mobility through the twist that’s performed during the lunge, and it also loosens up the muscles of the lower legs through the hamstring stretch performed at the end. It also loosens the glutes and hamstrings to allow you to feel more flexible and limber in everyday activities. It loosens the hip flexors, which is imperative to help relieve low back pain. This stretch is an amazing way to loosen up the entire body after sitting all day, providing relief from common aches and pain, and a way to warm up the body before exercise. What does the world’s greatest stretch do for the body? Born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, in 1979, he was encouraged to sing by his musician father and school-teacher mother at the age of seven – and has never looked back since. Example 1: He could never say no to her.Sometimes a character will report another character saying a single word (for example, “yes” in “ She said yes“) but you don’t need to put that single word in quotation marks. When writing numbers in dialogue, you can either write them in word form (like “four”) or numeral form (like “4”). It still is, so think of some other way to convey that information.” Numbers in Dialogue Writers sometimes slip an info dump into dialogue, thinking it’s no longer obvious if someone is explaining the info. “Another thing to be wary of, and something a lot of new writers fall into, is using dialogue for long info dumps. Maybe add some actions-what the characters are doing in this scene-or the thoughts of your protagonist about what’s being said. “Breaking it up into multiple paragraphs helps combat a tiring wall of text, but if you can write it another way, try that first. Think of being in a seminar where the professor drones on and on and you zone out and stop paying attention. “This type of dialogue formatting isn’t used often since a reader can get bored facing paragraphs and paragraphs of a single person talking. Only place the closing quotation mark at the end of the last paragraph when the character is done talking. But sometimes you may want to leave it uninterrupted.ĭo this by placing an opening quotation mark at the start of the dialogue and each paragraph of the character’s speech that follows. You can do this with a new dialogue tag for each paragraph, or with bits of action to keep the reader anchored in the scene. If a character is talking for a long time, you may want to split what would have been one long paragraph into several shorter ones. “Oh! I see now!” Multiple Paragraph Dialogue “This is how it’s done,” he said, pushing the notebook to her side of the table.
